What is included with each ticket?
Tickets are available for $15, which includes admission to Oktoberfest and a limited edition "Free the Hops Oktoberfest" 12.5 ounce beer glass.
Why should I buy my ticket in advance?
Advance ticket holders will receive two free beer tasting samples during the event.
Friday September 18th will be the last day to buy tickets in advance.
How much does each beer cost?
Premium beer will be sold for $3 a glass and a limited amount of "High Gravity" beer will be available at $5 per glass. All beer at the event is heavily discounted in order to provide the greatest value while maintaining the quality standards established by Free the Hops.
Will you accept credit cards at the event?
No. In order to keep prices low, the event is cash only. There will be an ATM on-site for those patrons who forget to bring cash.
Will there be beer over 6% Alcohol By Volume (ABV)?
There is a limited amount of high gravity beer available for each session. When this limited amount runs out, it is out for the session. We will not have more at a higher price. All high gravity beer is $5 a glass.
How many beers will you have?
We will have over 25 beers at Free the Hops Oktoberfest! Some of the brewers scheduled to participate include: Ayinger, Brooklyn, Dominion, Durango, Flying Dog, Fordham, Franziskaner, Good People, Great Divide, Leinenkugel, Olde Towne, Paulaner, Pennichuck, Rogue, Samuel Adams, Spaten, Terrapin, Tommyknocker, Tucher, Warsteiner, Weihenstephaner, and Yazoo. A list of specific beers will be available closer to the time.
What is the difference between the two sessions?
The only difference between the two sessions is the time of day. Each session will be allotted the same quantity of beer, so there will be no beers available during the first session that will not be available in the second session, and vice versa.
Will there be a fee for parking?
No. Free parking is available in the Birmingham Parking Authority’s lot between Morris Avenue and the railroad tracks. The best place to enter the parking lot is at Morris Avenue and 23rd Street (coming from 1st Avenue North). While we will have increased police presence in the area, we are not responsible for lost or stolen items or any damage to your vehicle.
We strongly encourage you to bring a designated driver, or arrange for alternative transportation home.
Are there any provisions for designated drivers?
All designated drivers get in free and can enjoy free food and drinks in the "Rojo Designated Drivers Cafe".
Magic City Brewfest has always had a "family-friendly" event. Is it OK to bring kids to Free The Hops' Oktoberfest?
This is a 21+ event. Nobody under 21 will be allowed inside. We will be checking IDs.
Can I set up a vendor table at the FTH Oktoberfest and sell (t-shirts/mugs/food)?
We have a limited amount of space for 3rd party vendors. If you're interested, email oktoberfest@freethehops.org for an application.
