Frustration

Yet again, the senate continued arguing about bingo in Macon county.

There is a large amount of legislation just waiting in the wings to happen, Gourmet Beer and Homebrewing being two of these bills.

It is immensely frustrating that our multi-year effort is hanging in the balance because of an issue that has nothing whatsoever to do with the merits of either of our bills. All we can do is wait and hope.

So if they stay hung up on this stupid gambling issue does that mean it will be next year before the bill has another chance at passing?

If the filibuster goes to the end of the session, we are doomed for this year. Both of our bills would be dead because of issues that have nothing to do with their merits.

And that would suck so hard :(

That’s as I feared. Too bad there isn’t really anything we can do to get them to get to work. I really, really, really was wanting some real beer this year, and with the price of gas getting insane it’s hardly worth it to drive to Georgia to buy alcohol like a grown up that can make decisions for himself.

if it is a dead bill this year will we have to start over next year with the house or just pass the senate?

Bills that do not get to the governor before the end of the session are dead. There is no carry-over: we would have to start back at step 1 all over again.
